Trail Description: We will do our major climbing before lunch on this pleasant hike past streams, two nice cascades, a glimpse of the Black Mtns, and a 20 year old timber harvest in the Grandfather District. Some challenging bushwhacking and hiking on overgrown trails.first 2 miles are on good trail, then mostly easy bushwhacking; A few short annoying bushwhacks.

Driving Directions: I-240 E to I-40 E to exit 72; left onto Curtis Creek Rd. In about 2 mls, park cars at trailend and trailhead.

Notes: 7.5 mile hike if side trip to see Carolina Hemlock Grove near Buckeye Knob is eliminated; 2 ml car shuttle reqd. Hike leaders - take some friends with loppers, hand saws and prunners with you when you scout. A GPS is handy for navigation.
