Issue Classification Often it will be multiple issues. In which case select 'Various' and describe in 'Description of Issue' field.

Section Location # and Name This a long drop down list from which you select one entry. The order of the list is MST (running from West to East) followed by the AT (running South to North). These are followed by the other trails in alphabetical order. If a trail is not found notify the CMC. IF MULTIPLE SECTIONS ARE COVER YOU MUST MAKE MULTIPLE EVENT ENTRIES.

Description of Issue This will be reported in E-news so mind your spelling, grammar, punctuation, wording, etc. Use complete sentences.

The description of the issue should include where the issue is located. Try to use a reference from or to a known landmark or location on the trail. Examples would include 5 minutes east of the Butter Gap Shelter, ½ mile north of the Haw Creek Overlook, or 15 minutes south of BeeTree Gap. The description of the issue should include a few words describing the nature of the problem.

**The size of the tree is important to let the maintainer know how big a problem he is facing and what tools to bring.  Important characteristics that should be listed: Trunk diameter, direction of fall (parallel is worse than across trail), whether it is a single fall or crown of tree, whether it is a step-over or suspended in the air.

Priority of Issue If you were hiking the trail how much would this item bother you. If you have an issue that stands out as high priority, it would be best to report it as a separate issue. In particular this would be a situation where hikers must leave the trail or it represents a threat to hikers' safety..
